Waiting On Wednesday(19)

Every time I read a book, five more books get added to the TBR list. Most of which haven’t even been released. Why, books? Why must you do this to me?

I Am Waiting On…

The Coldest Girl in ColdtownThe Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black
Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
Release Date: September 3rd 2013
Synopsis: Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.

One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is a wholly original story of rage and revenge, of guilt and horror, and of love and loathing from bestselling and acclaimed author Holly Black.

Why?: Well, the title is sort of amazing and I am very intrigued by the Coldtowns 😀 I am a bit wary of the ex-boyfriend and mysterious boy thing, though…

Once We Were (The Hybrid Chronicles, #2)Ounce We Were by Kat Zhang
Release Date: September 17th 2013
Publisher:
HarperCollins
Synopsis:
“I’m lucky just to be alive”

Eva was never supposed to have survived this long. As the recessive soul, she should have faded away years ago. Instead, she lingers in the body she shares with her sister soul, Addie. When the government discovered the truth, they tried to “cure” the girls, but Eva and Addie escaped before the doctors could strip Eva’s soul away.

Now fugitives, Eva and Addie find shelter with a group of hybrids who run an underground resistance. Surrounded by others like them, the girls learn how to temporarily disappear to give each soul some much-needed privacy. Eva is thrilled at the chance to be alone with Ryan, the boy she’s falling for, but troubled by the growing chasm between her and Addie. Despite clashes over their shared body, both girls are eager to join the rebellion.

Yet as they are drawn deeper into the escalating violence, they start to wonder: How far are they willing to go to fight for hybrid freedom? Faced with uncertainty and incredible danger, their answers may tear them apart forever.

Why?: I LOVED What’s Left of Me (don’t read my review, though. It sucks 😛 ) and can not wait to see what Kat Zhang can do with her second book. And I am sucker for pretty covers and covers that have optical illusions to them, sooo.

    • Just followed you via Bloglovin’, too 🙂

Holly Black is one of those authors that get a lot of praise in the community, it seems! So I am very excited for this book. What’s Left of Me got mixed reviews, but I really loved it. The concept is definitely intriguing!

    • I’ve read a little of White Cat but put it off for another book (though I remember enjoying what I read) and I also read the Spiderwick series, which she also wrote. So yeah, I’m a more than a little excited.

  1. The Coldest Town in Coldtown sounds quite OK. But both the books are not the kind that I would really be dying to get!. Love the illusion on the second book’s cover!
