Waiting On Wednesday(14)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

I’m waiting on so many books that I can’t possibly get to them all… But I don’t care! I’m pretty patient! Okay, fine, I’m not, but nobody needs to know.

I Am Waiting On…

Tumble & FallTumble & Fall by Alexandra Coutts
Expected Release Date: September 17th 2013
Publisher: Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR)
Synopsis: A novel about the end of days full of surprising beginnings

The world is living in the shadow of oncoming disaster. An asteroid is set to strike the earth in just one week’s time; catastrophe is unavoidable. The question isn’t how to save the world—the question is, what to do with the time that’s left? Against this stark backdrop, three island teens wrestle with intertwining stories of love, friendship and family—all with the ultimate stakes at hand.

Alexandra Coutts’s TUMBLE & FALL is a powerful story of courage, love, and hope at the end of the world.

Why I Need It: I am very aware that I wanted this book because of the cover at first. But after reading the synopsis, I just couldn’t stop thinking about it!

Kinslayer (The Lotus War, #2)Kinslayer by Jay Kristoff
Expected Release Date: September 17th 2013
Publisher: Thomas Dunne Books
The mad Shōgun Yoritomo has been assassinated by the Stormdancer Yukiko, and the threat of civil war looms over the Shima Imperium. The Lotus Guild conspires to renew the nation’s broken dynasty and crush the growing rebellion simultaneously – by endorsing a new Shōgun who desires nothing more than to see Yukiko dead.

Yukiko and the mighty thunder tiger Buruu have been cast in the role of heroes by the Kagé rebellion. But Yukiko herself is blinded by rage over her father’s death, and her ability to hear the thoughts of beasts is swelling beyond her power to control. Along with Buruu, Yukiko’s anchor is Kin, the rebel Guildsman who helped her escape from Yoritomo’s clutches. But Kin has his own secrets, and is haunted by visions of a future he’d rather die than see realized.

Kagé assassins lurk within the Shōgun’s palace, plotting to end the new dynasty before it begins. A waif from Kigen’s gutters begins a friendship that could undo the entire empire. A new enemy gathers its strength, readying to push the fracturing Shima imperium into a war it cannot hope to survive. And across raging oceans, amongst islands of black glass, Yukiko and Buruu will face foes no katana or talon can defeat.

The ghosts of a blood-stained past.

Why I Need It: After reading Stormdancer, I don’t think that a person can stay away (unless you hated it…). I want to read more about Yukiko and Buruu!

  1. I couldn’t get in to Stormdancer, but Tumble & Fall sounds amazing. It’s actually up on NetGalley if you’re interested! Do a publisher search for Macmillan and you should see it. 🙂

    My WoW pick 🙂

  2. Great choices! I’m really interested in Tumble & Fall (And not only because of that gorgeous cover). I have Stormdancer, but haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet. I am looking forward to it, though. I love the covers for that series, too!
