I have been finding out about so many future releases! Makes me feel anxious knowing that all these wonderful sounding books are going to be thrown out into the world this year.
I Am Waiting On:
Project CAIN by Geoffrey Girard
Expected Release Date: September 3rd 2013
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers
Synopsis: Fifteen-year-old Jeff Jacobson had never heard of Jeffrey Dahmer, the infamous serial killer who brutally murdered seventeen people more than twenty years ago. But Jeff’s life changes forever when the man he’d thought was his father hands him a government file telling him he was constructed in a laboratory only seven years ago, part of a top-secret government cloning experiment called ‘Project CAIN’.
There, he was created entirely from Jeffrey Dahmer’s DNA. There are others like Jeff—those genetically engineered directly from the most notorious murderers of all time: The Son of Sam, The Boston Strangler, Ted Bundy . . . even other Jeffrey Dahmer clones. Some raised, like Jeff, in caring family environments; others within homes that mimicked the horrific early lives of the men they were created from.
When the most dangerous boys are set free by the geneticist who created them, the summer of killing begins. Worse, these same teens now hold a secret weapon even more dangerous than the terrible evil they carry within. Only Jeff can help track the clones down before it’s too late. But will he catch the ‘monsters’ before becoming one himself?
Why I Need This: Okay, I have a not so secret confession to tell you: I have been interested in serial killers since a very young age. (I was a strange child. Still am.) So I read the synopsis for Project CAIN I immediately ran to my calendar and marked the release date. I am NOT going to miss out on this book! And isn’t that cover awesome?
Arclight by Josin L. McQuein
Publisher: Greenwillow Books
Expected Release Date: April 23rd 2013
Synopsis: No one crosses the wall of light . . . except for one girl who doesn’t remember who she is, where she came from, or how she survived. A harrowing, powerful debut thriller about finding yourself and protecting your future—no matter how short and uncertain it may be.
The Arclight is the last defense. The Fade can’t get in. Outside the Arclight’s border of high-powered beams is the Dark. And between the Light and the Dark is the Grey, a narrow, barren no-man’s-land. That’s where the rescue team finds Marina, a lone teenage girl with no memory of the horrors she faced or the family she lost. Marina is the only person who has ever survived an encounter with the Fade. She’s the first hope humanity has had in generations, but she could also be the catalyst for their final destruction. Because the Fade will stop at nothing to get her back. Marina knows it. Tobin, who’s determined to take his revenge on the Fade, knows it. Anne-Marie, who just wishes it were all over, knows it.
When one of the Fade infiltrates the Arclight and Marina recognizes it, she will begin to unlock secrets she didn’t even know she had. Who will Marina become? Who can she never be again?
Why I Need This: There has been so, so much praise for this book. And the premise is so vibrant and unique! I can’t wait to get my hands on this.
Alice in the Sky With Diamonds by Alice M. Grey
Synopsis: Seventeen year old Alice Grey wakes up in what looks like an abandoned mental institution with a blade in her hand, not remembering who she is or what happened to her. There is a tattoo on her arm that says, ‘Don’t trust yourself’ When Alice steps outside for help, she realizes that the world has ended while she was asleep.
She is the only one left alive … in the world.
But Alice gets curiouser and curiouser about that peach tea flavor on her lips, the hallucinating dreams she has about a mad boy, the drawings of her on the walls that says ‘mad and wanted’, the purple sky of apocalypse, the attacking pigeons, and the sure feeling inside her heart that she belongs to someone and that she is — or once was — in love.
Alice Grey, all alone in a world with no future, is determined to face the demons that control the abandoned streets at night, the hallucinations, to find the one she loves but can’t remember and ask him what really happened to the world while she was asleep. And the most important question of all, “Who in the world am I?”
Or is it that Alice has gone mad in wonderland where those who have survived the apocalypse are all mad here?
Why I Need This: OMG, a Alice in Wonderland retelling with an amazing, weird premise that rocks the world!? Why didn’t I know about this sooner? To bad there is not much information about the book’s release…
